Bio: On April 2, 2014 I underwent my first colonoscopy and one week later was officially diagnosed with an Inflammatory Bowl Disease called Ulcerative Colitis. This is my story and how I was able to navigate my way through the diagnosis, medical jargon, and transition through several difficult medical triumphs which ultimately led me to having the “three step” Jpouch surgery. The diagnosis of UC has forever changed my life and I feel blessed to be able to share my story with you as I continue to grow and learn the balancing act of recovery.

  1. Jerica, I am so sorry you have had to go through so much. My mom has two stomas, one for her colon and one for her bladder. While it took some time to get used to, you would never know she has one now. She is able to do anything now that she ever did. Hang in there and thank you for sharing your story. It will certainly help others who are dealing with similar issues.
